Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery Commitment at Man with Van Elephant and Castle
Man with Van Elephant and Castle is committed to conducting all aspects of its business in an ethical and responsible manner. We recognise that modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation are serious crimes and fundamental violations of human rights. This Modern Slavery Statement explains the steps we take to prevent these abuses in our operations and throughout our supply chains.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Man with Van Elephant and Castle provides transportation, moving, and related logistical services. Our supply chains include vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment suppliers, and a limited number of subcontracted transport and labour services. We recognise that any supply chain can carry risks of modern slavery, particularly where there is the use of low-paid, temporary, or migrant labour.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
We operate a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. This means we will not knowingly work with any individual, contractor, or organisation that engages in or condones forced labour, servitude, human trafficking, or any form of exploitation or abuse. Our expectations are clearly communicated to employees, drivers, subcontractors, and suppliers as a condition of working with us.
All contracts and informal arrangements are subject to this zero-tolerance policy. If we identify conduct that is inconsistent with this policy, we will take prompt and decisive action, which may include suspending work, terminating relationships, and reporting concerns to relevant authorities where appropriate.
Due Diligence and Supplier Audits
We apply a risk-based approach to due diligence and supplier monitoring. New suppliers and subcontractors are reviewed to assess the potential risk of modern slavery within their operations. We consider factors such as the nature of the services provided, geographic location, workforce profile, and the use of subcontracted or agency labour.
Where we identify higher risk, we may request evidence of policies, training, and procedures relating to labour standards and worker welfare. We reserve the right to conduct audits or assessments of suppliers and subcontractors, which may include site visits, worker interviews facilitated by the supplier, and requests for documentation relating to right-to-work checks, wage records, and working hours.
Failure to cooperate with reasonable audit requests or evidence of non-compliance with our standards may result in corrective action requirements or termination of our relationship with the supplier.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage anyone connected with our business, including employees, subcontractors, temporary workers, and suppliers, to raise concerns about potential modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be raised through managers, supervisors, or directly to company leadership. Reports may be made confidentially and will be treated seriously and sensitively.
We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith. All concerns will be considered promptly, and when appropriate we will investigate and take action, which may include engaging with the supplier, suspending activities, reporting matters to relevant authorities, or seeking professional advice.
Training and Awareness
Relevant staff and managers receive guidance on recognising signs of modern slavery and on how to respond to concerns or disclosures. We promote awareness of our zero-tolerance policy and reporting channels so that everyone involved in our operations understands their responsibilities and feels empowered to speak up.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that combating modern slavery is an ongoing process requiring continuous improvement. Each year, we review this Modern Slavery Statement, our due diligence measures, and any identified risks or incidents. The review considers feedback from staff, suppliers, and other stakeholders, as well as changes in legislation, industry good practice, and our operating environment.
As part of the annual review, we assess the effectiveness of our current controls and identify opportunities to strengthen our approach, such as enhanced supplier monitoring, additional training, or updated contractual requirements. Where necessary, we will update this Statement and our internal procedures accordingly.
Approval of this Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement has been prepared on behalf of Man with Van Elephant and Castle. It reflects our commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains and will be reviewed and updated on an annual basis.
